He's gotten better at not letting them completely take over, but usually the death or torment ones were enough to leave him on the floor. But it's not a human death and the droid feels no pain when the saber finally cleaves through it (Cal has perhaps felt the pain of dying more than any single person, and it doesn't matter how one goes, it's never painless).
